The Coming of Grace and Truth

The law was given through Moses. Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Notice the difference Grace and truth actually came in Jesus. When the Word, the Son of God became flesh, in that act, grace and truth came into the world.

The law came in to increase the trespass so we know that we can never merit salvation. The is a guardian to direct us only to the gospel of grace.

Then, when we come to Jesus only by grace through faith, the Jesus introduces us back to the law as a thing of beauty showing us God's character. This is the law in right perspective - not as a means to achieve righteousness, but as a means to love God's goodness.
