Debtors To Our Eternal Body

Paul, having shown us that the antidote to the law of sin is the law of the living Spirit in us, and walking day-by-day in the Spirit, now gives us reasons why we should exert ourselves to walk in the Spirit. The first of these reasons is the debt we owe to our eternal destiny. This body and life has done nothing for us that places us in obligation to it, except bring us sin and death. We are not debtors to this life, this body, this existence. Rather, we owe everything to the hope of eternal life - and, of course, the Savior who earned it for us. So, we should not expend our time and energies on serving sin and fleshly desires. Rather, we should remember our eternal destiny and spend our strength investing in that.
