Choosing the Better Portion

Every day is filled with the urgent, the things that demand your attention and don't take "no" or "wait" for an answer very well. We must learn to discern between the urgent and the truly important. Serving the guests seemed much more urgent to Martha than listening to Jesus. But she failed to realize that it was also far less important. We can go through life tragically when we neglect that which is most important for that which appears to be urgent. While Martha was preparing one meal, Mary was having another, better one. She was feasting on the Living Word!
