Obedience from the Heart
Series Ephesians: Marriage and Family
Can you imagine what it must have been like to be Adam and Eve under the authority of God? God had provided Paradise—a place filled with love, joy, happiness, and peace. As Creator, All-Mighty God provided protection through obedience to His Word. As long as man obeyed, there would be great rewards and blessings. Actually, the LORD was a great provider. There was so much to enjoy in the Garden of Eden. Adam had uninterrupted access to God, the joy of companionship in Eve, and the vastness of God’s good resources. Adam was in need of nothing. Everything He needed was all around him. Under God’s alignment, Adam walked in a place of power in service to God and man. He could be bold as a lion.
However, sin changed everything. Adam and Eve had become rebels, were no longer home in Paradise, and had lost their first love, joy, peace, and happiness. They walked in a dangerous place as temptation had pulled them away from God’s best. Through disobedience, they ran from the face and hand of the very one who had provided everything for them to richly enjoy. Instead of walking in God’s power and strength, they ran from the voice of God, hid from His face, and blamed one another when God called them out. Sin brought death, darkness, and enmity among men. The marriage became engulf in conflict and murder would infiltrate the first family. This was a tough start. We need redemption!
