The Call to Repentance

In Joel, the Lord calls the people to mourn over their sin. In judgment, God sent an invading foreign army to ravage the countryside. The people are to lament for there is no wine, fruit, oil, or barley. The ultimate reason to mourn is the disruption of worship for there is no wine for the drink offering or barley for the grain offering. God has stripped the people of this privilege because the drink and grain offering represented thanksgiving for God's provision and dedication to God. The Lord will not allow the worship to resume until there is repentance.
