It is no exaggeration to say that the family – the American family because that's our particular context – the family, really for the past 150+ years, has been under relentless assault from cultural shifts and ideologies that have eroded the foundation of family life to the point that we are where we are at today. The breakdown of the biblical-traditional family has deeply affected the church, and our society as a whole, because as goes the family, so goes the church, and as goes the church, so goes society. And there is no way any clear-thinking believer can look at the condition of the family, church, and society today and not see that we have just total pandemonium. We're in a real mess, and the only way out of this is for the family to return to biblical principles and do things God's way.
