BSGCEPH # 21 No Longer walk as the rest EPH 4 vs 17-32

  1. We continued with the exhortations/commands that are in the book of Ephesians and we continued to emphasize the significance of understanding the difference between the indicatives (who we are already because of Christ) from the imperatives (exhortations because we are already children and saved).

  2. Many preachers and professing Christians tend to make the doing of the commands the matter of the gospel or salvation, which is not true. TO conflate them leads to a gospel not of grace, but of works, which is no gospel.

  3. But with that said, the imperatives are there and contrary to what many think, on close analysis, one will see that they derive their standard from the person and work of Christ and not from MT Sinai.

  4. And whilst at this, those who accuse our teaching of anti-nomianism (anti-law) just because we make a clear distinction between Moses (Mt Sinai) and Mt. Calvary (Christ) are very wrong. They think they are more righteous by claiming to be still under Moses as the rule of life, but the redeemed are under Christ. Christ and His Spirit are the rule of life for those who know the truth.
