Heaven's Hall of Fame
Series Q & A: Jesus and His Disciples
The men whom the Lord Jesus chose as His disciples must have assumed that they stood in line for very prominent positions in the kingdom they thought Jesus was about to establish. They had more than one discussion as to who would be the greatest or chief in the kingdom of heaven. They had what we may call a Hall of Fame complex. They harbored the desire for attention and praise and power. The Lord Jesus responded to them with the example of a young child. Only by becoming as the young child, spiritually, could they even gain admission to the kingdom of heaven. The Lord was teaching that the prominent places in heaven were reserved for those who lived in the estate of humility.
