Tolerance & Intolerance #5: When the Church has to Disconnect
Series Tolerance & Intolerance
If someone claims to be a Christian but is living in obvious sin and just won't repent —any Biblical church has to pursue church discipline with that individual.
Tragically, so many churches seem to get themselves into serious difficulty at the same time as trying to discipline, and seeing the many abuses of power that take place, some churches simply shy away from it altogether.
Thankfully Paul gave very clear instructions to the Corinthians about their own need to discipline one of their members, and in this passage we get the fourth and final action a church has to take as the church-discipline process is brought to its conclusion.
This last action is perhaps the hardest for the church to stomach, and so much confusion exists in this area. It's really not because the scripture is unclear... so grab your Bible... a notebook... take a deep breath... and get yourself equipped to handle the toughest aspects of this God-given task when your required to.
