Burial of Jesus

The crucifixion was horrendous but few discuss the price Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus paid to assure the LORD was buried properly. "In a rich man's tomb" was not something that happened to the bodies of criminals. The body of virtually all who were crucified ended up on the dung heap outside of the place they were executed. Joseph and Nicodemus forfeited their worldly existences to glorify God. John, as the sole apostolic eyewitness to the event, wanted everyone to know Jesus died on the cross. He did not make a "recovery". He was whipped, beaten, crucified and then stabbed through his chest with an 18" Roman spear. He was then taken down and buried by two men who were willing to "defile" themselves and give up all they had for Jesus. Joseph and Nicodemus wrapped Jesus in traditional wrappings, called Tachrachim in Hebrew, along with 100 pounds of burial spices which they did (unknowingly) to prove Jesus' resurrection was real!
