Tongues for Us Today?

This is a stud to determine whether it is correct to conclude that the gift of tongues is truly a gift to be used in the church today. This is a controversial subject and we must approach it prayerfully and carefully, realizing that there are true believers on both sides of the issue. Why did God use tongues to evangelize the people of Israel when they might have heard the Gospel in their own Hebrew language.
