Unity Through Selflessness

Paul, in calling the Philippians to unity and other person centeredness, points to very real things in their lives whereby God had demonstrated His great commitment to their wellbeing through His self-sacrifice. Unity in the body is fundamental to glorifying Christ and thus Paul explains what that looks like in the functioning of the body. He then shows how selflessness is key to such unity. Self-seeking fragments the body and thus is the opposite of unity. The sermon also unpacks what it means to regard others as better than one's self and how this can be done in sincerity--Paul intends us to mean this from the depths of our hearts.
