Double Jeopardy

Ultimately there are only two views about the resurrection: either we believe in it or we don't. However, what we believe about the resurrection has massive ramifications on how we live our lives now. The hedonism of our day is in direct contradiction to the meaning of the resurrection for to truly believe in the resurrection means to endure hardness and deny ourselves. If the Kingdom of God is real, then we ought to sacrifice all for it and we must guard against being enticed to pursue the pleasures and comforts of this life at the expense of the Kingdom. The only way to fight hedonism is in the power of the Spirit with a Biblically defined vision of the Kingdom. In God's Kingdom we learn that it is by dying that we live; it is by losing all for Christ that we gain all; it is by forsaking self and pleasure that we know true joy and peace.
