Nothing Without Love
Series 1 Corinthians Sermon Series
The text stresses that without genuine, selfless agape love, even the most impressive spiritual gifts, sacrificial acts, or displays of faith are meaningless. Paul rebukes the Corinthians for using their gifts selfishly and reminds them that true love is not about feelings or status but about Christlike action—seeking others' good at personal cost. Love is patient, kind, humble, forgiving, truthful, and enduring, refusing jealousy, arrogance, selfishness, provocation, or bitterness. It actively bears, believes, hopes, and endures all things because it reflects the very nature of God revealed in Christ. The sermon concludes by showing how every description of love finds its perfect fulfillment in Jesus—who bore our sins, humbled Himself for our sake, and endures with us still—calling believers to let His love define and fuel everything they do.
