The Centrality of Christ's Resurrection

Aim: To understand that, on our own—without Jesus' resurrection—we are completely powerless.

Exegesis: Christ's resurrection assures us of our ultimate victory in the covenant. In our flesh we fall because of discouragement (v. 27a) and fear (v. 27b); in our Lord we stand because of Christ's power (v. 28a) and love (v. 28b). Christ's resurrection assures us of our ultimate transformation in the covenant. We are to no longer trust ourselves (vv. 29-30) nor boast of ourselves (v. 31).
