Introduction: Is the devil real? Most Americans and most self-identified Christians think not.

I. The scene – the defeat of the devil
A. The activity of satan

B. His defeat is certain

C. The defeat was accomplished by Christ's blood.

II. Three affects of his defeat
A. vv. 10, 12 -- rejoicing in heaven

B. v. 11 – God's people faithfully witness

C. v. 12 – wrath on the earth

III. The lessons for us today
A. We have help from above.

B. We see God's protection.

C. We should expect troubles.
