Concerning Servants

Christian servants must serve their masters respectfully and diligently for the sake of the gospel.

As a Christian, that is your preeminent identity, and whatever your station in life is—whether slave or master, prince or pauper—it is of secondary importance.

That way of thinking may sound strange but it is the way that the Bible calls us to think about ourselves in this world. It is the way that the Apostle Paul thinks about life as a follower of Christ which explains the counsel that he gives to slaves in these verses.
