Spiritual Gifts

Spiritual gifts are given by God to believers to be used for the good of others and for the building up of the church. Broadly speaking, there are two categories of gifts given, serving gifts and speaking gifts. Each individual believer is gifted and the gift given is by God's choosing. Each individual is then responsible to use what they have been given, not comparative to others. There were gifts given for a time as the foundation of the church was laid, and having been with the completion of the New Testament are no longer given with their purpose having been completed. There are gifts given that continue to be given to the church today for the growth and edification of the local church, all of which are a part of the universal body of Christ.
