Man's autonomy with respect to how he thinks about the being of God and the being of man, as well as about reality and possibility is behind all the false religions, cults and deviations from the Reformed teaching about justification, grace and God's sovereign control over the details of life. When these fundamental Biblical doctrines are rejected by man's autonomous reasoning the door is opened, every time, to man needing to contribute something, by his own unhindered ability, to the process of securing his acceptance before God.
