The Church's Responsibility to Widows

Immediate family have the first level of responsibility to provide for the care of widows. The church is given responsibility to care for those widows who do not have family to make those provisions. The church is given specific instructions regarding the eligibility of those widows whom it becomes responsible for. The qualifications are given in regard to physical age, morals, and good works which are delineated for clarification. In summary, a godly woman over the age of 60 without family support who is a member of the local church would qualify for regular support by the church as needed including the financial and material realms.
