Paul's answer to the age old challenge of God's predestination does not satisfy the rebellious heart, nevertheless it is the correct answer and a clear rebuke to anyone who raises the question. It is sin that rises in indignation and cries foul at God's sovereign election. John Calvin says the "reason of divine righteousness is higher than man's standard can measure, or that man's slender wit can comprehend." The rebellious, however, exalt their own minds to the position of supreme authority and confidently pronounce judgment upon God and His word.
