We continue with our fifteenth and LAST lecture through our devotion based on Thomas Watson's book, The Art of Divine Contentment. Tonight's lesson studied chapters 14 and 15, "Use V. Containing a Christian Directory, or Rules about Contentment: Rule 1, Advance Faith; Rule 2, Labour for assurance; Rule 3, Get an humble spirit; Rule 4, Keep a clear conscience; Rule 5, Learn to deny yourselves; Rule 6, Get much of heaven into your heart; Rule 7, Look not so much on the dark side of your condition, as on the light; Rule 8, Consider in what a posture we stand here in the world; Rule 9, Let not your hope depend upon these outward things; Rule 10, Let us often compare our condition; Rule 11, Go not to bring your condition to your mind, but bring your mind to your condition; Rule 12, Study the vanity of the creature; Rule 13, Get fancy regulated; Rule 14, Consider how little will suffice nature; Rule 15, Believe the present condition is best for us; Rule 16, Do not too much indulge the flesh; Rule 17, Meditate much on the glory which shall be revealed; Rule 18, Be much in prayer."; and "Use VI. Of Consolation to the Contented Christian."
