Zephaniah: Seek Mercy!
Series Abiding in Christ
The Day of the Lord comes upon Judah as the Lord sweeps away birds, fish-- and mankind (Zephaniah 1). Priests violate the first four commandments (Exodus 20:3-11); politicians and people join in the sin.
The Lord commands His people to seek His mercy while they may (Zephaniah 2:1-4).
The Day of the Lord is not only for His erring people, but also for the rest of the nations. Moab and Ammon will fall as Sodom and Gomorrah fell; from Africa (Cush) to the mighty hated Assyrian Empire, the Day of the Lord will destroy those who resist the King of kings and Lord of lords (Zephaniah 2:4-3:8).
Fortunately, mercy follows judgment. The Day of the Lord is the Day of the Lord's peace. The ends of the earth will worship God. There will be a revived remnant from Judah.
