David's Mighty Men

The British poet, John Donne, wrote, "No man is an island." The sense of his words is that no man is really self sufficient. Every man's accomplishments have been effected, to some degree, by the contributions of others. This was surely true with regard to David. David had his mighty men "who gave him strong support in his kingdom." The characters of these men is set forth under four headings. They were men who gave a hand, men of guts, men of gift and men of get up and go. Our churches need such men.
