Hearing and Following the Shepherd…
Trusting, Following, and Growing in Christ
The message emphasizes the profound significance of Jesus as the ultimate shepherd and heir of all things, highlighting His willingness to suffer and sacrifice for humanity's redemption. Drawing from Hebrews, it explores the concept of God speaking through prophets and ultimately through His Son, emphasizing the importance of listening to His word and trusting in His grace. The message underscores the call to discipleship, urging listeners to follow Jesus, embrace His truth, and actively participate in His work, recognizing that obedience and faith are essential for a life rooted in His purpose and ultimately, for experiencing true rest and freedom from the burdens of the world.
A Shepherd Worth Trusting
• Psalm 23 reminds us: The Lord is our Shepherd. He has given His all to guide and rescue us.
• Thankfulness for the gathering, shared testimony about family and fellowship.
• The Word of God is our daily bread—tonight we break it together in Hebrews, and trace its truth through the Scriptures.
I. Hebrews: Jesus, the Better Word
Hebrews 1:1–2
• God has spoken in times past by the prophets, but in these last days by His Son.
• Jesus is the heir of all things (Heb. 1:2) — the lovely, the holy, the precious.
"Because He embraced the worst of us, the Father has given Him the best that He has."
Hebrews 5:7–10
• Jesus prayed with cries and tears—and learned obedience through suffering.
• He was made perfect (complete in His mission) and became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.
"He didn't just suffer for us—He walked in obedience so we would know how to follow."
