“Where God Meets the Broken”
Series LUKE
"Where God Meets the Broken"Luke 15:17-20 KJVIn today's lesson, we explored the powerful truth that God meets us in our brokenness, not in our perfection. Sullivan Crossing serves as a metaphor for that sacred in-between place — the moment when a sinner turns from their mess and begins to move toward mercy.Like the Prodigal Son, every believer faces a moment of crisis and clarity — a crossing — where we must realize where we are, recognize the Father's love, and respond by returning home. The Prodigal didn't return once he was cleaned up; he returned dirty, empty, and desperate — and that's exactly when the Father ran to him.We also considered the older brother, who stayed close to home physically, but far from the Father's heart emotionally. He too stood at a crossroads: to celebrate grace or cling to resentment. This reminds us that God not only meets the rebellious in their shame but also the religious in their bitterness.• God can't fix what you won't face. The first step is honesty — "he came to himself."The Father runs to meet us — even before we get the words out.The call to return is a call to move — don't just think about change; walk into it.Whether you're far off in sin or near in pride, the Father's heart has room for you.Let this lesson remind us that at Sullivan Crossing — that holy place where grace meets guilt — God is already waiting, robe and ring in hand, ready to restore, redeem, and rejoice.
