Elijah a Man of God Part 1

Elijah lived in a period in Israel’s history when the nation was on the verge of total spiritual collapse.

In Elijah’s time King Ahab and his wife Queen Jezebel were on the throne.

Ahab and Jezebel brought terrible times to the nation of Israel.

The damage that Ahab and Jezebel did to Israel was terrible. Under Ahab and Jezebel religious apostasy occurred, a sun god temple was erected, an altar to Baal was set up, idolatry was promoted, hundreds of false prophets were accommodated , sexual orgies in so called worship took place, children were sacrificed on the altars of the false gods.

God’s Word was rejected by God’s people and a whole scale persecution of God’s prophets took place.

Into this scene of devastation walks in a prophet of God called Elijah.

Our days are similar to the days of Ahab.
Our land is filled with Idolatry.

We've allowed false religions to come into this land and flourish, and yet our land has had the true Gospel since the 1700’s.

False prophets are in every major city of this nation proclaiming their lies.

Many in our country worship the false idols of sport, sex and materialism.

Many in this nation have set up idols of men in the rock stars, film stars and sports stars that they worship.

The false religion in Ahab’s days would sacrifice children. Our country sacrifices their children in abortionists clinics and hospitals every day. Estimates are that 100,000 children are killed each year in abortions in Australia.

In Ahab’s day sexual orgies occurred in their idol worship. Today Sexual immorality is everywhere.
