Series 3 John
Third John is an epistle written to a disciple of the Lord- Gaius- who was being persecuted for righteousness sake. Yet the persecution did not come from the fallen world in which he lived. Rather, it came from Gaius’ own pastor and church. And that brings us to the heart of the Epistle of 3 John. Yes! False disciples have gone out into the world and are in the church!
Accordingly it behooves us not only NOT to give them a hearing; that is the message of 2 John, BUT ALSO NOT to be snookered into following them; that is the message of 3 John!
