Treatment of Elders Part 2

Introduction: This morning we will discuss a "touchy" subject for our culture: money. And specifically, money for pastors in the church.

REVIEW: Last week we dealt with the presuppositions in our text:
a) That the church government is delegated to the elders,
b) The principle of parity and plurality,
c) Pastors are selected from within the church,
d) That there are differing gifts and capacities among elders,
e) The independence of the local church government.

Thesis: how to deal with pastors in the church.

Outline:
I-The Remuneration of elders vs. 17-18
II-The Reputation of elders vs. 19
III-The Rebuking of elders vs. 20
IV-The Recognition of new elders vs. 21-24

This passage envisions both the elders' responsibility towards the church, and the church's responsibility towards its elders.

Today, we will only look at the first part.
