God Will Provide Himself A Lamb

This Wednesday evening Bible Study was titled "GOD WILL PROVIDE HIMSELF."

This lesson deals with Abraham's life up to the point where he is tested of God to take thine only son and offer for a burnt-offering.

The text used is Genesis 22:1-8 dealing with seven areas of the lesson:

1 The Call to Sacrifice: Genesis 22:1-2
2 The Choice to Sacrifice: Genesis 22:3
3 The Country of Sacrifice: Genesis 22:4
4 The Confidence of Sacrifice: Genesis 22:5
5 The Courage of Sacrifice: Genesis 22:6
6 The Curiosity of the Son: Genesis 22:7
7 The Christ offered for Salvation: Genesis 22:8

This story is a picture of the cross and the Saviour to come in the sacrifice of the LORD Jesus Christ. And Abraham's faith had reached the point that he fully believed and trusted upon God regardless of the cost. He had grown to believe that one of two things would happen.

1 Abraham believed that God would provide a lamb, thus he would not have to sacrifice Isaac as Abraham told the boy in Genesis 22:8.

2 Or he believed he would have to go through with the sacrifice, but God would raise Isaac from the dead because he was the promised seed.
