The Miracle of Forgiveness

THE MIRACLE OF FORGIVENESS
TEXT: Psalm 130:4

SUMMARY: Forgiveness is such a miracle that it can only be perceived through the eye of bestowed faith.

I. IT IS A MIRACLE THAT FORGIVENESS IS POSSIBLE: “There is forgiveness.”
A. Forgiveness is possible despite the disposition of man towards God.

1. He is conceived in sin.
2. He spurns God's remedy for his sin.
3. He is willingly ignorant of God and His ways.

B. Forgiveness is possible because of the disposition of God towards man.

1. There is goodness in His nature:
2. There is a satisfaction of His holiness.
3. There is an extension of His goodness to man.

II. IT IS A MIRACLE THAT FORGIVENESS IS PERSONAL: “forgiveness with you.”
A. It is Granted by a Personal God.
B. It is Granted in a Personal Salvation.
C. It is Bestowed for a Personal Relationship from which three things will ensue, which are sufficient to maintain the spiritual life of the soul:

1. A steady determination to abide with God.
2. A patient waiting on God for Him to do things in His own time and way.
3. A great value placed on the riches of God.
