Enduring Until the End Part 2

The present passage focuses on the psychological state of mind of the believer living in the present age with all of the complexities that come with a fallen world (John 16.33). Trials, temptations, sin, persecutions, afflictions and suffering of every kind; these are the conditions under which we are called to persevere (1 Pet. 4.12). There could be nothing more harmful, delusional and spiritually misleading than what the ‘word of faith’ teachers peddle to their people— a view of God and Christianity that says God’s will is for everyone at all times to prosper physically and materialistically in a temporal way and any setbacks to a person’s health and wealth is owing to either unbelief or the work of Satan.
