Paul's First Recorded Sermon on Justification
Series Acts Series
In Acts 13.16ff we have Paul’s first recorded Sermon in the Book of Acts.
When you look at Paul’s missionary journeys he would often start at the local Synagogue.
Paul had a great burden for his own people the Jews. He knew just how they would think.
Have you ever asked yourself, what is a natural people group I can reach?
Often the Lord may put on your heart a people group.
Paul in the Synagogue recounts some Jewish history to his hearers.
Paul makes mention of the Old Testament Prophets in his message.
The Prophets had foretold the coming of the Messiah and the prophecies concerning Christ had been fulfilled in Christ.
As Paul is speaking to the Jews in Acts 13 he is continually directing them to the Old Testament Scriptures that they knew.
He is using the Scriptures that are familiar to the Jews and using those Scriptures to show that Jesus, indeed is the Promised Messiah.
At the end of Paul’s message in Acts 13 Paul tells the Jews 2 great things.
That through this Man v38,39 Jesus is the forgiveness of sins and justification for all who believe.
Jesus Christ forgives the SINS of all who would TRUST in Him.
Not only does Jesus Christ provide FORGIVENESS, He also provided JUSTIFICATION.
JUSTIFICATION: Is to declare a person righteous before God. Those who have trusted Christ as Saviour are declared righteous before God because they have the righteousness of Christ imputed to their account.
