Great Commission: 3. Trinitarian Baptism (3 of 5)

Great Commission: 3. By Trinitarian Baptizing

Points:
I. The Supposition of Baptism
II. The Practice of Baptism
III. The Significance of Baptism

The Great Commission is the marching orders of the Christian Church. While all Scripture is inspired by God and profitable to teaching and preaching, the Great Commission has a defining role in what the church is supposed to do in the world.

Our second study, (which is a little bit brief because it was a Confirmation service and a Lord's Supper celebration) builds on the first. Christ's Authority over heaven and earth are what empowers the instructions that follow. When we read "Therefore" we are being reminded of this truth.

The Central Command centers on the one imperative command found in the commission: to MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS. The focus of this third message is on baptism in the Name of God the Father, and God the Son and God he Holy Spirit.

The three remaining participles are in parallel construction. We will look a these in coming weeks.

Our interest today pretty much focuses on the discipleship and what it means to make disciples of all nations.
