#10 Setting Your Mind on Christ

The term "red neck" has its roots in Scotland back in the early 1600s. There was a great persecution that broke out against the Presbyterians by the British Crown. The was simple - who is the head of the church. The Scottish Presbyterians signed two important documents: The National Covenant 1638 and the Solemn League and Covenant in 1643. The signers of these two documents sometimes signed in their own blood. And the way they got their name is the red cloth they wore around their neck to symbolize they were not afraid of dying because of the documents they signed. The second document, the Solemn League and Covenant has greatly affected us in this room. The Solemn League set the expectations of what the Westminster Assembly would produce, namely the confession and the catechisms. It was used as a sort of paradigm for our Constitution.
