Ascended to Minister

The next portion of the Nicene Creed states: "He [Jesus] ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father." In Acts chapter 3 we see a great work of the ascended Christ take place - through Peter and John a well-known crippled beggar is healed of his lame condition. Peter, in preaching to the people in Jerusalem, rehearsed the then recent events surrounding Jesus' death, resurrection, and ascension. He speaks of the "refreshment" that God will send to believers, the coming return of Christ, and the necessity of the ascension. It is from his ascension throne that the Lord Jesus rules over all things, including his church, and there at the Father's right hand he exercises his present ministry in behalf of his people.
