Exodus 5-6 Pride

Moses, Aaron, and the elders of Israel meet with Pharaoh and ask him to let the people worship the LORD and Pharaoh not only does not allow them to take a break but he makes their lives even worse! The lesson of the first part of Exodus is pride is the overarching problem of humanity. It was the problem that caused Moses to run away and not want to return and it is the problem of Pharaoh and his unwillingness to listen. Th​u​s it is rightly said, "Pride comes before destruction​ and a haughty spirit before a fall."
