Signs of the Coming Day of the Lord

Having stated that "the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night" in v. 2, in v. 3 Paul then proceeds to state what sign will precede the coming "the day of the Lord" . . . "while they are saying 'peace and safety.'" Furthermore, in Luke 17:16-20 the Lord reveals the world's attitude at the time "the day of the Lord" comes. Also, in 2 Thess. 2:1-10 Paul reveals more about the signs of the day of the Lord.
This message also explains a unique interpretation of the term "apostasia" found in 2 Thess. 2:3. While traditionally translated "apostasy," there is compelling evidence that "apostasia" is more correctly translated "departure," and is a reference to "the rapture," and not "the apostasy."
