The Essence of Eternal Life

The words of the prophet Isaiah (48:16) points us to the greatness of God; the same God pointed to in our text. Life is a real mystery; the natural life is filled with trials and difficulties; spiritual life separates us progressively from our natural ways and its physical limitations, but Jesus here speaks of eternal life. Not just life without ending but life at ts fullest enjoyment for all the ages of God's kingdom. This is life related to a full knowledge of God, of Christ, and of the Holy Spirit. This seems impossible to comprehend in our flesh but Christ is here preparing the disciples and all His covenant people to embrace eternal life.
