The Church's Responsibility to Its Elders

The local church not only has responsibility to show honor and respect to its elders, but also to provide financial remuneration to those who have primary responsibility in preaching and teaching the Word of God. Elders have a right as do all members in the church to protection against slanderous attacks and character assaults they may become the target of. This same level of protection for them and each member of the body comes by means of the requirement of multiple witnesses to confirm any accusation. No bias or showing of partiality can be tolerated in the ways of responding to accusations and in administering the appropriate biblical discipline when a pattern of sin must be confronted.
