Salvation's Only Road

The question by Thomas in this text was an admission that the disciples had not gained very much insight through their association with the Lord Jesus Christ. But it was an opportunity for the Lord to instruct them again in the exclusive nature of the Gospel. In an age that seems to place a high value on making many ways to Heaven, the Lord indicated that there is only one way of salvation. Those who will not go through Christ will never get to the Father, and He made it plain in these famous words that sinners must go through Christ as He is presented in the Gospel.
