Words of Warning from Jesus

SERMON: Luke 12:49-13:9

Introduction:

Theme: Out of concern for the crowds following Him, Jesus gives 4 warnings to the people. They should be careful to heed what Jesus says to them and we also should be careful as well.

How do we know that Jesus is concerned?

A. The first warning that Jesus gives is that the truth divides mankind, especially the truth about Himself, vv. 49-53.

B. The second warning that Jesus gives is about the cost involved in not being His disciple, the full payment for you sins, vv. 54-59

C. The third warning of Jesus is concerning the need for repentance; it is a need of all, vv. 13:1-5.

D. The fourth warning of Jesus is that the opportunity to repent does not last forever, vv. 13:6-9
