Adversarial Religion

The Lord who turned over the tables of the money changers is before us in this text. He straightforwardly and boldly looked into the eyes of the ruler of the synagogue and addressed him as hypocrite. The ruler cared nothing for the helpless, afflicted woman. He likely felt she deserved her plight and emboldened his self-righteousness. He was an adversary to Jesus, to love and righteousness.
