Col. 2:13-15

Last time, verses 10-12 considered the the present standing of the Colossian saints. This time we consider how they came to have this standing. All of it is based upon the work that the Father made of Jesus Christ for us at the cross. The Father is the subject of the three statements in this text. But notice the verbs: forgiven, blotting out, nailing, made a shew, and triumphing all have to do with what Jesus Christ actually accomplished for the elect at the cross. He didn't accomplish a proposal of salvation to all men. He actually saved us at the cross. Keep that thought as we press through just these three verses of Scripture.
