We have been taught by Peter the way of knowledge, faith, and the evidences of faith which is spiritual fruit, all of which together are to encourage the believer to strengthen their faith by increasing their personal assurance of saving faith in Jesus Christ. Assurance can be something that is struggled with long and hard, but it is something that is obtainable, as Peter witnesses. It is not presumptuous, but is the growth of that precious faith granted by God to His children:
