Simon the Zealot

The zealots rose about the time in which Jesus was born. The taxes under Quirinius set them off. As time went on they became more and more radical, their actions more and more extreme. Eventually they went from being insurrectionist to straight out terrorist. Another name for the zealots was the sicarii. Named after a small curved knife called the sica which they carried under their robes. They began to kill not only Romans but any Jew among them who may support the Roman rule. Simon's story is a story of the gospel to tear down walls of partition between brothers in Christ.
