Man of Sorrows, Man of Prayer
Series The Gospel of Mark
Jesus Christ was a man of exemplary prayer. He fulfilled the New Testament command, "Pray without ceasing." In the midst of Christ's depression and gloom, He prayed. We need to learn from this. Too often, we complain to others or we simply bottle up our compaints. Christ did not do this. He brought His "complaint" to the Father. Depression is not solved by a pill. It is solved by working out the matter with God and pouring out your soul to Him. According to Hebrews 5, Jesus cried loudly with many tears. Why are we so afraid to cry loudly? Why the tight control over our emotions? Why the bottling it up? Why the stoicism? Are we incapable of being vulnerable even before God?
