The Sovereignty of God Unfolds

1. Daniel's Dilemma (2:1-16).

The king gets a dream (2:1-6).
The wise men are dumbfounded (2:7-11).
The king becomes furious and orders the execution of all the wise men, including Daniel (2:12-16).
Daniel responds with “prudence and discretion” (2:14).

2. Daniel's Prayer (2:17-19a).

Daniel organizes a prayer meeting (2:17-18).
Daniel seeks mercy from the God of heaven to not be destroyed (2:18).
Daniel receives the revelation from God in a vision (2:19).

3. Daniel's Psalm (2:19b-23).

Praise for the sovereignty of God (2:20-21).
Praise for the revelation of God (2:22-23).
Praise for the wisdom of God (2:23).
