Acts #104 Finishing the Course

The Apostle Paul sounded forth our only hope in finishing the race set before us (as Christians) in Philippians 1:6. Dear ones, one of my constant prayers to the Lord is not simply that I might finish the race set before me, but that I might finish well, finish strong, finish faithfully, finish joyfully, and finish thankfully—that I might throw away (and continue to do so) every weight in this life that would hinder me from finishing the race well.

Beloved, is it your prayer that you might finish your race well? As we consider the race set before Paul, we see the physical toll that it had taken upon him, and yet he finishes that portion of his race well (by God’s grace and with God’s help alone) in finally arriving in Rome to preach the gospel there as a prisoner (just as the Lord said he would in Acts 23:11). Let us consider the following main points from our text this Lord’s Day: (1) The Final Leg of the Trip to Rome (Acts 28:11-14);(2) The Joyous Reception for Paul at Rome (Acts 28:15-16).
