That's A Tormentor

That's A Tormentor

When Jesus is Too Much…

Earlier today I shared a post about tormentors. This message pulls out some truths concerning the subject and other thoughts to consider.

How to recognize you're battling with a tormentor.

In a nutshell, they bother everyone — but here's the thing. They don't want anyone bothering them. And in Mark 5 we see how they tormented those they controlled but didn't want Jesus messing with them.

It's the kind of spirit that is bothered by the speck in someone else's eye but finds it disturbing and distasteful if anyone questions the obvious log or plank hanging out of theirs. That's a tormentor and one we need to recognize. They don't give up easily and they won't lay down their tormenting for just anybody.

Let's examine a few characters found in Mark 5; Matthew 8, and Luke 8.

For a great portion of the Gadarene's life, this entangled and snared man (and another man with him), lived among the dead. The two of them were castaways who had found company with the waisting corps of society. What those in the region didn't realize was that they too were no better off than these men whom they had written off. Time and a Transformer would soon prove it.

This guy, like all unbelievers, being deceived and blind:

A man living out of touch.
A man living out of control.
A man living without a divine purpose.
A man living without a divine hope.
A man living under the torment of sin.
A man living under the torment of satan.
A man living under the torment of self.
A man living under the torment of society.

Until Jesus showed up…
